Living next to the second largest river in America, The Mississippi River, also has a very long road next to it called the The Great River Road.

Kinja'd!!!

My question is "What car would you drive from Minnesota to Louisiana?" Being America, I think I would take a brand new Challenger R/T.

Last year's Great Race started at the MSRA Back to the 50's car show at the MN state fair grounds and followed the river to the Alabama gulf coast. I saw many of the cars at the start, and any of those cars would have made for an awesome trip.

Because America, I'd go with either a Corvette or a Mustang. Because road trip, it'd be a convertible.

Granted, I've never heard of the Great River Road before (and this is growing up in states that bordered the river). Looking into it, I can't find much detailed info — but it's definitely not a paved road along the bank. Plus, most of the river is pretty boring scenery, or is just trashy suburb areas you really don't want to go through (Memphis, anyone?). That said, if I were starting a road trip down there I'd go to Natchez, MS, drive the Natchez Trace from start to finish, then cut across some Tennessee backroads to US-129 (Tail of the Dragon, as most of you know it). After that, find your way to the southern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Drive it to completion, then pick up Skyline Drive through Shenandoah. No clue where I'd continue from there to make the trip into a loop.

Grade school geography is but a memory... but isn't the Mississippi the largest river in America?
